Braud | August 20, 2026 --- New Orleans residents will get two chances in September to weigh in on where and how the city houses its government. The Municipal Complex Advisory Committee, created by Mayor Helena Moreno, has scheduled two public roundtables to gather input on the future of City Hall, the Orleans Parish Civil District Court, and a possible City Hall annex in New Orleans East. The first is Thursday, September 3 at 6 p.m. at Joe Brown Park in New Orleans East. The second is Wednesday, September 30 at 6 p.m. at the Morris F.X. Jeff Sr. Recreation Center in Algiers. ## What the committee does The committee does not itself pick the outcome. It reviews the condition of the existing buildings and makes recommendations to guide decisions by the Moreno administration and the City Council. Moreno established the committee by executive order in January and announced its membership on July 8\. It is chaired by Andy Kopplin, president and chief executive of the Greater New Orleans Foundation, and held its first meeting on August 6, as reported by [Verite News](https://veritenews.org/2026/08/05/city-hall-municipal-complex-committee/?ref=evanscutchmorepress.com) and [Fox 8](https://www.fox8live.com/2026/08/06/new-orleans-committee-kicks-off-study-new-city-hall-new-orleans-east-annex/?ref=evanscutchmorepress.com). The administration and the City Council decide. ## Why it matters Where the city locates its government buildings shapes how residents reach public services, how far they travel to do it, and where public investment lands.
