About Evans Cutchmore

Where Policy Meets People.

Evans Cutchmore is an independent newsroom dedicated to public-interest journalism across Louisiana and the Gulf South. Through original reporting, investigative journalism, documentary storytelling, aerial documentation, and data-informed analysis, we examine the decisions, policies, and institutions that shape our communities.

We believe meaningful journalism goes beyond reporting what happened. Our mission is to explain why it matters, who it affects, and what it means for the future of our region.

Our reporting focuses on government and accountability, business and economic development, infrastructure and the environment, education and financial literacy, culture and tourism, and investigative reporting.

Whether covering a City Council meeting, a major infrastructure project, a cultural festival, or a long-term investigation, we are committed to reporting with accuracy, fairness, transparency, and independence.

Our Story

Evans Cutchmore was founded to create an independent source of journalism focused on accountability, context, and the public interest.

As traditional local newsrooms have contracted, communities have lost consistent coverage of the public meetings, policy decisions, infrastructure projects, and civic issues that directly affect their daily lives. Evans Cutchmore was created to help fill that gap by producing reporting that is accessible, fact-based, and grounded in public service.

We believe informed communities make stronger decisions, and journalism plays an essential role in preserving the public record and encouraging civic engagement.

Founder & Editor

Evans Cutchmore is led by Kim M. Braud, an independent journalist, documentary filmmaker, entrepreneur, FAA Part 107-certified remote pilot, and professional member of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (Suncoast Chapter).

With more than three decades of professional experience spanning business strategy, financial services, marketing, and community development, she brings a multidisciplinary perspective to reporting on public policy, economic opportunity, infrastructure, environmental issues, and institutional accountability.

Her journalism combines investigative reporting, public records research, photography, aerial documentation, and documentary filmmaking to provide readers with context beyond the headlines. Her reporting has examined government accountability, infrastructure, environmental justice, housing, historic preservation, business and economic development, and the cultural institutions and events that shape Louisiana and the Gulf South.

As Founder and Editor, Braud leads the publication's editorial vision and is committed to producing independent, fact-based journalism that informs the public, promotes transparency, and holds institutions accountable.

Our Commitment

Every story published by Evans Cutchmore is guided by one principle:

Serve the public with independent, accurate, and accountable journalism.

We are committed to asking thoughtful questions, following the facts wherever they lead, and producing reporting that helps readers better understand the communities they call home.
